We are sad to see Dr. Julie Anderson leave after more than 15 years at our practice, but she has relocated with her husband to Texas to take an administrative role that will help educate the next generation. We wish her best of luck in her endeavors.
Dr. Miriam Anderson grew up in Kansas City, Missouri attending Hickman Mills High School. She attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota for her undergraduate work. University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry was where she completed her Doctorate of Optometry. She has been with Eyecare Associates since 2000. Dr. Anderson loves patients of all ages but especially enjoys her pediatric patients. She lives on an acreage in Belton with her husband Ted and daughter Kelsey. During her free time she tries to keep up with her daughter’s collegiate Forensic/Speech team competitions. As an empty nester Dr. Miriam decided to dust off her violin and join the Overland Park Orchestra. She also loves a good book… so tell her your favorite!
Dr. Doug Herriott’s advanced education and techniques in optometric care makes optometric procedures more accurate and comprehensive than ever before. If your goal is to have the clarity in your vision that mother nature wanted you to have and eyewear that enhances your natural features you have come to the right place!
As an active member in many optometric associations and societies, Dr. Herriott continually completes advanced education to remain at the forefront of comprehensive eyecare and treatment. He has also studied extensively in the areas of primary care, treatment of ocular diseases, aging of the eye and specialty contact lenses.
Dr. Herriott is a member of:
In his spare time Doug and his wife Kathy enjoy sailing, biking, their two daughters Brianne and Brooke who attend MU and their dogs.
Dr. Mark Herriott has been practicing Optometry since 1986. He attended the University of South Dakota before earning his Doctor of Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, California. He enjoys a "family" approach to practice, where needs are addressed with the same care and concern given to a member of his family. His own family includes his wife Kimberly, his son Zachary, and daughter Morgan. When life requires an outside distraction, you might catch him building a model airplane, or sampling a new wood in the smoker.
While Dr. Nennig was in training with Michigan College of Optometry she spent part of her last year as an extern at our Lee’s Summit office. Originally from Wisconsin she fell in love with the Kansas City area during that time and jumped at the opportunity to move back.
After her time in Lee’s Summit, she continued her training with the Indian Health Services because of her passion for treating and preventing Diabetic Eye Diseases. Dr. Nennig joined Eyecare Associates because of her interest in continuing to care for patients with diabetes as well as wanting to be part of a specialty contact lens and scleral lens practice.
Dr. Nennig has a passion for wellness. She wants her patients to maintain healthy vision throughout their lives. This mean educating the youngest among us: our kids. The favorite part of her day is playing with puppets during a child’s exam.
In her spare time, Dr. Nennig can be found exploring great hiking trails, visiting museums, traveling or remodeling her home.
