Meet Our Doctors
Julie Anderson, O.D.
Dr. Julie Anderson has been practicing Optometry since 1988. After attending Oklahoma State University for undergraduate work, she earned her Doctor of Optometry from Northeastern State University College of Optometry in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. After practicing in Oklahoma and North Carolina, she and her family have settled in the Kansas City area. Her areas of special interest include pathology, dry-eye management, pediatrics, contact lenses, primary care, and refractive surgery co-management. When not in the office, Dr. Julie is busy with her husband Rick, children Mikala and Colton, and their many sports, academic and dance activities. In addition, she has been active in setting up the Special Olympics Opening Eyes program in Kansas .
Miriam Anderson, O.D.
Dr. Miriam Anderson grew up in Kansas City, Missouri attending Hickman Mills High School. She attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota for her undergraduate work. University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry was where she completed her Doctorate in Optometry. She has been with Eyecare Associates since 2000. Dr. Anderson loves patients of all ages but especially enjoys her pediatric patients. She lives on acreage in Belton with her husband Ted and daughter Kelsey. Girl Scouts and being a parent volunteer at The Barstow School take up much of her free time.
Kari Burchett, O.D.
Dr. Kari Burchett joined Eyecare Associates in 2005 after earning her Doctor of Optometry from The Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tennessee. She received her Bachelor of Science from Pittsburg State University. Her areas of special interest include family eye care, pediatrics, ocular pathology, and contact lenses. She and her husband, Justin, enjoy snow skiing, hiking, and state highpointing.
Doug Herriott, O.D.
Dr. Doug Herriott has practiced and lived in Lee's Summit since 1987.
Dr. Doug attended of the University of South Dakota and the Southern California College of Optometry. For seven years, he was an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He enjoys having a patient mix of both adults and children.
Dr. Doug Herriott has been practicing Optometry since 1983.
When Doug and his wife Kathy are not chasing their active daughters between their A to Z activities, he enjoys sailing, the outdoors and a good book.
His areas of special interest include family eye care, pediatric vision, ocular pathology and contact lenses.
Mark Herriott, O.D.
Dr. Mark Herriott has been practicing Optometry since 1986. He attended the University of South Dakota before earning his Doctor of Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, California. He enjoys a "family" approach to practice, where needs are addressed with the same care and concern given to a member of his family. His own family includes his wife Kimberly, his son Zachary, and daughter Morgan. When life requires an outside distraction, you might catch him building a model airplane, or sampling a new wood in the smoker.
