Meet Your Doctors

Julie Anderson, O.D.

Dr. Julie AndersonDr. Julie Anderson has been practicing Optometry since 1988. After attending Oklahoma State University for undergraduate work, she earned her Doctor of Optometry from Northeastern State University College of Optometry in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. After practicing in Oklahoma and North Carolina, she and her family have settled in the Kansas City area. Her areas of special interest include pathology, dry-eye management, pediatrics, contact lenses, primary care, and refractive surgery co-management. When not in the office, Dr. Julie is busy with her husband Rick, children Mikala and Colton, and their many sports, academic and dance activities. In addition, she has been active in setting up the Special Olympics Opening Eyes program in Kansas.

Miriam Anderson, O.D.

Dr. Miriam AndersonDr. Miriam Anderson grew up in Kansas City, Missouri attending Hickman Mills High School. She attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota for her undergraduate work. University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry was where she completed her Doctorate of Optometry. She has been with Eyecare Associates since 2000. Dr. Anderson loves patients of all ages but especially enjoys her pediatric patients. She lives on an acreage in Belton with her husband Ted and daughter Kelsey. During her free time she tries to keep up with her daughter’s collegiate Forensic/Speech team competitions. As an empty nester Dr. Miriam decided to dust off her violin and join the Overland Park Orchestra. She also loves a good book… so tell her your favorite!

Kari Burchett, O.D.

Dr. Kari BurchettDr. Burchett has been an optometrist with Eyecare Associates since 2005. She received her Doctor of Optometry from Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN after earning her Bachelor of Science from Pittsburg State University. Dr. Burchett enjoys the variety of patients she see daily, but especially enjoys the pediatric and ocular disease aspects of her practice. Practicing in a small town is something she really appreciates as she likes to get to know her patients as more than just their eye care provider.

Outside of work, Dr. Burchett enjoys spending time with her husband, Justin, and their two sons, Jack and Max. They love hiking and spending time in the mountains along with climbing state highpoints.

Doug Herriott, O.D.

Dr. Doug HerriottDr. Doug Herriott’s advanced education and techniques in optometric care makes optometric procedures more accurate and comprehensive than ever before. If your goal is to have the clarity in your vision that mother nature wanted you to have and eyewear that enhances your natural features you have come to the right place!

As an active member in many optometric associations and societies, Dr. Herriott continually completes advanced education to remain at the forefront of comprehensive eyecare and treatment. He has also studied extensively in the areas of primary care, treatment of ocular diseases, aging of the eye and specialty contact lenses.

In his spare time Doug and his wife Kathy enjoy sailing, biking, their two daughters Brianne and Brooke who attend MU and their dogs.

Mark Herriott, O.D.

Dr. Mark HerriottDr. Mark Herriott has been practicing Optometry since 1986. He attended the University of South Dakota before earning his Doctor of Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry in Fullerton, California. He enjoys a "family" approach to practice, where needs are addressed with the same care and concern given to a member of his family. His own family includes his wife Kimberly, his son Zachary, and daughter Morgan. When life requires an outside distraction, you might catch him building a model airplane, or sampling a new wood in the smoker.
